Overlooked by snow topped mountains reflected in the glimmer of the lake, this enchanting village is fit for a romance only an eighteenth-century poet could dream of. Its buildings stand strong with tails of history, with charming architecture coated in pastel colours echoing that of fairytale villages. Cobbled streets that once saw rivalry now pave the way to freshly baked delicacies and enchanting boutiques, filling the air with a warmth that sparks belief in even those that out grew the endearment of a fairytale a long time ago.
A village missed by the every day traveler in a rush to experience the glamour of Paris and the landscapes of Switzerland, a hidden gem nestled on the boarder that has it all - and yet doesn't boast the crowds nor the queues, the vibrating sounds of American travelers or the typical British complaints. Often better known as the Venice of France, a comparison to another city is not nearly enough credit, this boutique destination boasts an experience completely of its own that's truly incomparable.

Wonder into the old town and you'll stumble upon a traditional market three times a week, a sense of community that most places have seen fade over time, and on the lucky occasion you may just set foot in the electric chaos of their music, food or arts markets too. Local brews in plastic cups, indulgent five cheese fondues poured with no expense and even a festival that celebrates pigs on the second Saturday every November in the heart of the town. Live music's played with traditional instruments moving through the streets and whether you've been captured by the magic nestled within the French-Alpes or not, there's no denying the allure of the authentic, cultural movements.
The cuisine is no different. We dined at a gorgeous little restaurant on the edge of the town just seconds from one of the many rivers. The deep red features of its exterior are the perfect taste of the authentic French charm that follows inside, from French onion soup to more cheese fondue. Teddy bears in the window and checked table clothes as if taken from a classic French movie set- a wholesome meal is the only way to round of a visit to this special town.
